About 18 months ago, after it had been growing too large, Mrs L ruthlessly hacked down comprehensively pruned the hydrangea in the front garden. Last summer there were lots of leaves and hardly any flowers. But it’s all come good, and now there are numerous blooms getting ready to burst into colour in the weeks to come.
