Trilly the Trilobite

I thought I'd sample another specimen from our little museum today. This is "Trilly", one of the fossils that we acquired some time ago and which inspired the creation of the museum. Named by Daisy, of course.

This particular fossil is about 375 million years old, unearthed in Morocco, but sold to us in a fossil shop in Dorset! 

Trilobites were some of the most successful animals that ever lived: more than 50,000 species are known from fossils, spanning over 300 million years of existence in the early oceans.
