Leaving marks

Poking around a nearby beach and scrambling up the rocks, I found this slab covered in names and initials carved by local children over the last half century. Posting it in a Facebook group elicited a response from "A. RICHARDS 1960" (now known by a different surname).


Extra shows in closeup something we identified initially as a springtail, but having looked at some pictures I'm not so sure.
