Very poignant

When we broke the news to Lottie about Grandad her first comment after the tears was that she had wanted to send him a Christmas card and a present.

She then came up with a lovely idea, all of her own, that she could release a balloon with a message attached for him which I thought was lovely. We left a present for Santa to take to him, and then this morning on the way to her other grandparents' house we stopped off at the lovely garden at the hospice. Again that was Charlotte's idea - that's where she last saw him so that's where it had to be.

We let the balloon go with Billy Bear (given to us by the hospice for Charlotte) and wished Grandad a happy peaceful Christmas, and miraculously I managed not to cry!!

It was a nice day but there was somebody missing
