The Haves and the Have-Nots
Those who have a job.
Those who have the freedom of nothing left to lose.
The man who owns this boarded-up former grocery store at NW 21st Avenue and Northrup has had hard times in his long life. Out of compassion, he allows houseless people to sleep in the relative protection of the porch-like shelter. His neighbors, including some of Portland's most respected gourmet restaurants, would prefer he didn't do that.
This continues the One Street theme introduced here.
I am a big-time Have, for which I continue being dazzled with gratitude. A belated and very wonderful Christmas gift arrived today from another blipper who knows who he is: a copy of a beautiful volume called Photo-Wisdom: Master Photographers on Their Art. It's a large-format beautifully-printed book with interviews and work by fifty photographers. Thank you so much, you who know who you are!
