Fake Dead, Turn Alive

If you saw any other part of this plant, you would be sure the brittle, dry, whitish sticks weren't alive. But these bright flowers indicate otherwise.

I'm spending Christmas with my extended family in the Palm Springs, California area. It's a beautiful place to celebrate the holiday and has good in-between weather in preparation for returning to Thailand.
