My fellow patients were rather unsettled last night... the 95 year old tried to get into my wall cupboard while searching for the toilet. The lady opposite kept trying to get out of bed and she wasn’t allowed before Physio checks her. Besides, she was attached to the bed via a catheter. Then the other lady wanted to sit in her chair at 5am and had to be dissuaded. The night staff tend to talk VERY LOUDLY at old folk. My buzzer was doing overtime summoning help.
Then at 6am they woke us all up for blood tests etc. *sigh*
However, the consultant came this afternoon, while JR was visiting (bearing a couple of blueberry muffins) and declared I was fit to go home, but would have to take antibiotics for a few more days. He looked at the clock (about 3pm) and said, ‘You’ll be home by 6 o’clock.’
BUT he failed to fill in my discharge papers, so the ward nurse can do nothing. My claims of having a witness (JR) held no sway.
Still, I’m free of my catheter, so it’s not all doom and gloom. Just mostly.
Sweet and sour chicken for tea was my highlight, so that’s not saying much...
