Black fantail

The black morph of the fantail is more common in the South Island - about 4% of fantails in the south are black, only about 1% in the North Island. There is a theory that more black ones survive in the south because they survive better in the cold being black. There were black and pied fantails around this morning. Extra is the pied morph.
