What the dickens?!

Why, the stage at the RSC in Stratford of course!

It's the Merry Wives of Windsor on tonight and I have just heard the phrase 'what the dickens?' in this play (so nothing to do with Charles then?!). Educational and entertaining, who could ask for anything more?
