walk over the mountain

today me and mum went for another early morning jog! a little bit unheard of but nevermind! later we went for our kinda new traditional walk over the mountain to the offa's dyke brewery a couple of villages away :-) love the views up there even tho it was hammering it down! when we arrived we saw that dave the gardener/local legend/village gossip/part of the furniture and all round good egg was there and we had a good old chin wag with him :-) i think it was really nice for mum as he talked about nan and granddad is such a lovely way, talking about what amazing people they were, and how they would do anything for anyone without a second word and were always organising community events bringing lots of people together :-) this has been her first christmas without them both and she has been doing her best to put on a brave face, so it was really nice to talk about them and remember them in such a positive light :-) i especially enjoyed dave's hilarious "don't tell ruth..." stories about my granddad and his impression of his west country accent was quite brilliant! had a really lovely time despite the fact lunch had turned into a liquid lunch, we even stopped off at the oak on the way back for a swift one..well it would have been rude not to! dave said that catching up with us two was the highlight of his year - even better than having dinner with michael owen! dave, u r a star and really made us laugh a lot today :-)
