D-Day 75th Aniversary. We Will Remember
Another photo in tribute and remembrance of the events 75 years ago.
Following on from my story on Monday of the American service men tragically killed in Operation Tiger, a practice run for the D-Day assault on Normandy, I took a bus ride down to the South Hams to photograph this American Sherman tank which sits above the beach at Slapton Ley.
It was recovered in 1984 from about 3/4 mile off the beach and came from one of the landing craft sunk when German E-boats happened across a 'convoy' of landing craft during a practice run for the D-Day landings.
Now it stands as a memorial and reminder of the sacrifices made 75 years ago.
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
