A Quick Walk

For the last few days the barriers have been closed more than they've been open because of the wild weather, and it's been so windy you can hardly stand up, let alone go for a decent walk. Today it was much calmer so I dashed into town to get some more bits and pieces for Christmas and to meet up with my sister. Folly! Absolute folly! Every man, woman and child was out shopping, it was frantic - you'd have thought there was a siege under way - and the Co-op had run out of Prosecco so I decided to brave Tescos. Total chaos - I even had to queue to get into the car park! Madness!

Needless to say I was never got round to having coffee with Clare, but I did meet up with her in Tesco's and we had plenty of time to chat while queuing at the till! Dashed back home to help putting the craft shop to bed for its winter break. We won't open again until the beginning of February, but as it is in a flood risk area, we have to empty the shop and put all the stock up stairs.

At the moment we are looking after Lucas again, while his owners are away for Christmas, so I took Ollie and him for a quick dash around the fields before it got dark and then finally got home in time to hear the end of the Nine Lessons and Carols. Made the bread sauce, peeled and prepped some veg and made a big pot of braised red cabbage.

Spoilt for choice with the veg selection as Postie came home with two neeps, a red cabbage, a Savoy cabbage and four stems of sprouts! He also was given a bottle of whisky and a couple of bottles of wine! That should do the trick!
