Rainy with a chance of showers

In full knowledge that the day was forecast to be one of rain, it was an easy decision to head south, over to the Isle of Harris (no, I still don't know why Harris and Lewis are referred to as separate entities when they are one and the same, not that I'd make such an assertion to a local).

We always wind up heading down the Golden Road, always wind up in the Mission House gallery, and always end up chatting with artist Nickolai about life, the universe and everything. There's something quite comforting about it in the rain.

A brief stop (after a double back having got some cash from Leverburgh) to a new little Seafood Shack in Rodel (set up by Sam, after a successful  crowdfunding attempt) lead to a mad dash back to Tarbert to go on a tour booked around the distillery there. All very interesting, though sometimes the spin on this being 'for the community' was a little obviously a marketing tool.

Anyway, the weather cleared 'a little' for us to head south again to Northton, in the hopes of hearing Corncrake (which I'd photographed here before), but no joy. And we managed to inadvertently stumble upon a small nesting colony of Arctic Terns, who made sure we were aware of their ire, as we beat a hasty retreat.

Heading back north the rains returned, but... the winds are shifting, and there are high hopes for tomorrow.
