Shredding and ranting!

For those of you who read our Blips regularly; you will know that Ann is a 'Meet & Greeter'. Ie, she meets and greets visitors who are staying in short term lets. This has proved to be a very good job to have while training a puppy like me. She chooses where and when she works and the payment per 'meet & greet' is very good. Ann gets paid for 2 hours but normally her 'meet & greets' take less than an hour. Out of 122 meet & greets, she's only had about 5 when the visitors have been late and she's had to be at a property for almost 2 hours. Obviously if she was in charge of optimising revenue for the meet & greet company, she would be looking at cutting back the time and money that is spent on meet & greeters.


However she now needs to RANT!


Soooooo........................ the payment for 2 hours work (which is usually only one hour's work) is very good. BUT...................... if you're only working for 1-2 hours at a time, one has to incorporate 'travelling time' into this payment otherwise before you know it; 3 hours out of your day have been taken up and you're only getting paid peanuts. And obviously Ann is not a monkey!!!


Anyway, the other day Ann got a WhatsApp message nobody from the 'meet & greet company' actually talks to anyone in this job saying that the time that one should wait at a property for visitors was being reduced to one and a half hours and the payment was also being reduced. Oh and this should be viewed as a 'positive'. Duh................. how can reducing someone's payment by 25% for a job they have been doing for months be viewed as a 'positive'??????????????????


…...................I'll tell you why. Ann works in the 'Gig Economy'. Its a bit like being an Uber driver. And as such is unregulated. So now instead of doing 5 meet & greets a week to keep me in the treats to which I am accustomed to, she will have to do 7. Grrr................... To be honest the hourly rate is still very good and if Ann had been paid this when she first took on the job she would have been happy, but what other job can cut one's salary by 25% and get away with it???????????????


Anyway Ann has two options – 'shut up' or 'ship out'. Lol, lol, lol!!! She's booked herself in for zillions of meet & greets (slight exaggeration) before Friday when the new payments come into force!


So this afternoon Ann was 'meeting & greeting' for a few hours and when she came home today I'd shredded my bedding again. This is only the second time I've done this. But why do I do it????? I had a 2 hour walk this morning and was really tired when I got home.
