Today's local history...
... Then & Now subject is the current Harrogate Debenham's store in Parliament Street, alongside the same building, then occupied by Buckleys, photographed 110 years ago in 1909.
In response to a couple of comments, I did a little further research and uncovered another old photo, listed as taken in the 1900s. This indicates that the department store had ungone a recent refurbishment before the blip photo was taken in 1909. That is probably why it looks newer than the other photo (the frontage of Debenhams has been the same in the 30 years I have lived here and probably dates back to when the store was Buckleys).
