Pre-ordered surprise

A book turned up in the post, today: 'Electrical language: Independent British Synth Pop 78 - 84'. I was momentarily flummoxed but then remembered buying it on pre-order a while back. I rather like this aspect of pre-ordering things; I tend to forget them and then at some point they turn up, like a present from the past.

Not that I had a chance to dip into the book or listen to any of the four CDs that come with it; I was in the office pretty much all day and then Charlie and Hannah were there when I got home. We were joined a little later on by Dan and Abi, and then we all went down to Number 9, Izzy and Milly arriving not long afterwards.

It's rare these days that I'm with all of my kids at the same time, not least because Izzy works in South Sudan, and God it was lovely to see them all. And Number 9 was the perfect setting; the food is excellent and, right now, I'd say it's the best place for a meal out in Kirkby Lonsdale.
