Cold wind still blowing

This is the weathervane on St Anne's church at Ings, near Staveley. I joined MrP's band in the village hall there to practise for a gig in Kendal in a few weeks time. It's said to be a charming little Georgian church, but the door was firmly shut, and I'm really not sure what the ornamental part of the weathervane represents.
