Tormented Tree

Part of our walk this morning takes us along a narrow road in Netherton Bottom. It runs between Faccombe Wood and Netherton Hanging Copse.

I do not know where the name comes from... but most of the trees there, now bare and exposed, have this contorted look. Most of the bark is coated with moss and lichen, which adds to the "eerie factor".
