If You Go Down To The Woods Today

You will see rivers running down trees  and patterns in the bark being shown off by the water.
You will also see the dead bear …… well, half of it. The other half is still standing proud. This piece of wood has half a bear burnt into it and should be standing about 20 feet up the path where, if you get down to a child's eye height it will marry up with the other half which is much bigger and stands several yards into the trees.
I will report the damage to the Woodland Trust  ….. again.

I have started making my commissioned piece.
It is burr oak 49cm x 42cm 7cm. My original intention had been to 'turn' the curved ends to get rid of the straight cats (they didn't really fit in with the 'rustic' brief) but I managed to cut the curves smoothly enough on the bandsaw. Then it was down to sanding, sanding, sanding and some really awkward brushwork with sanding sealer.
The next job is to figure out the best way to pour the resin to fill the voids and cracks in the burr so that it will become 'food save'
