Routeburn Track

Up early today to drive down from Queenstown to Glenorchy which is a fantastic drive itself. Plenty of Scottish place names here and you can see the similarity with the Scottish highlands. Then onto Routeburn Shelter to start the walk. Routeburn Track is a 2-3 day Great Walk but we just did a day walk up to the Routeburn Falls. For me probably the best walk of the holiday. Much of it through beech forest, and all the time you are amongst these enormous mountains and a real feeling of wilderness. Some great views higher up, although on this shot no time to look at the views. StorksRock is not hanging around as this bit is subject to falling rocks....
