AN UNWRAPPED PRESENT

We'd just returned home,
After an afternoon of celebration,

Tabasco wanted to go outside, but
Before I could open the slider,
We spotted a herd of mule deer,
Walking along our fence line.

This curious beauty,
Just had to pause for a quick peek,

For a second, we were eye-to-eye.
Making this experience,
My last gift of the day.
