We travelled to Lincoln after lunch and arrived four hours later. Lots of road improvements on the A14/A1M meant reduced lanes and speed controls. No hold ups though, just a long journey, broken briefly with a stop here for a coffee. A huge service station with umpteen places to choose from. We’re here for Edwin’s funeral tomorrow morning, staying overnight at Woodcocks Lodge, a Marston’s Inn hotel and have just eaten in the restaurant which was really busy!

It will be a strange day tomorrow....We saw Veronica very briefly before Edwin’s brother took her out for dinner.

We took the family to Gatwick this morning and have heard they’ve arrived in Norway and Esmée was perfect on the flight, fascinated and fascinating. So pleased for J&A.
