Tine Green Bush-cricket
Another fine morning for our survey of Conington - and look who I found soaking up the rays on a dandelion flower-head - the tiniest juvenile Great Green Bush-cricket. By the time of our next visit this youngster will be fully grown - the largest bush-cricket in the Britishsh Isles at about 7cm long - big enough to give you a nasty nip if you're rash enough to try and pick it up!
