Real Parables

This would be a parable (complete with religious lesson), except there are photos..and videos...to make it true.

The boys had a little Christmas lesson of their own last night. As we drove to a family Christmas Eve celebration, they witnessed a few things that were less than pleasant. I likened it to Mary and Joseph's own trip toward a place for Mary to rest. We discussed the meaning of "no room in the in." It's a metaphor for "no God" in a person's soul. Anyone out causing harm to others on Christmas Eve, especially to children, are on parallel with innkeepers to say the least. We made it to the family gathering and had a wonderful time.

Around 2 am, I finalized details for Christmas morning. namely, reindeer mix on the front lawn and preparation of a 5 hour pecan, caramel french toast bake that would be piping hot when the boys woke up. As the meal was set and house cleaned, I stepped outside to glimpse the most beautiful, clear sky and say a few prayers of my own for the moment that we all celebrate today.

The gift was in that moment. And in the star of Bethlehem thousands of years ago. This set the platform for a wonderful and blessed Christmas Day.
