Bridge 145

This is Stanlow Bridge, number 145 on the Shropshire Union Canal, the closest one to the end that I haven't blipped so far.

I have said before that the isn't the most attractive section of the canal as it runs between warehouses and industrial units so it tends to attract a lot of litter. In fairness there were quite a few people walking here today and it was pleasant enough in the sun.

The M53 crosses and recrosses this section and is always within earshot which doesn't help. In fact it runs directly behind me here on a very high bridge, number 144a, which I haven't blipped yet. One thing for certain is that I will include the same sculpture in that shot to liven it up. I'm not sure what the sculpture is meant to represent, and it is quite hard to read because the leaves/panels have misted up, but there seem to be various nature references on it.

I imagine that this was a very pleasant location before the M53 was built. It would have been even better before the nearby oil refinery when I imagine this road lead down to the ship canal and Mersey.
