Rue Chardin
Today's research experience was one to top them all! I'm so grateful to my colleague, pictured here, for organizing a visit to the former home of Jane Dieulafoy (1851-1916), a traveller and writer whose work I've been studying since my thesis. Rachel Mesch is working on her now -- watch for her forthcoming book! -- and had a contact who works in Dieulafoy's former home who was incredibly generous with his time, opening boxes and cupboards and showing us around. Dieulafoy's "salon de réception" still looks essentially as it did in a photo we'd seen from 1903. Here is my colleague climbing up the ladder into the attic. So much fun!
