Saturday was a day of changing plans. The original plan was for my friends and I to meet at Camelon Railway Station and walk from there to the Kelpies. Lunch in the café there would be followed by a walk along the Forth and Clyde Canal to the Falkirk Wheel and back down into Camelon. However, when we met, the persistent rain caused one of my friends to suggest a shorter alternative walk to Callander House. And so we set off.
We walked into Camelon and up to the Forth and Clyde Canal, crossing that and continuing onto the Union Canal (pictured). We walked along that and into the Callendar Estate only to find that there was a music festival taking place. As a result Callendar House was closed and so we were now onto Plan C.
We walked into Falkirk town centre and had lunch there before going our separate ways. Not quite the walk we'd intended, but we still managed to rack up a few miles and, more importantly, had a good catch-up.
