"The man in charge"

Saturday 25th May 2019

We travelled to Ellesmere Port this morning to visit the National Waterways Museum. We were surprised when we got there that the museum is open for free this weekend because of the Bank Holiday. We both saved £9.75!

No canal boat trips were running today but you only get a short stretch of the canal anyway. We enjoyed our time around the museum, although their high tech Augmented Reality didn't work properly on my phone.

The first room we went in to encouraged us to dress up as "The man in charge" so we did as we were "told". Physivic was with us of course but they didn't have any small enough clothes for him.

They had a smudge art experience for children in the education room. It was quiet when we went in so they let us both have a go. You can see our master pieces, created on a wheel spun by a girl on a bike, in the extras.

We went into every room and on every boat we could. We took the ice breaker challenge many times until we matched the best score of the day, by which time I was exhausted!

We had a late picnic lunch, thankfully just before it started to rain. After leaving the museum we went into Runcorn and found a couple of vantage points to photograph the old and new bridges. Back home we sorted and viewed our photos and had a meal.

As usual when we get together, a fun packed day!
