If at first you don't succeed.

This clock is now ready to recase.  I heard a clunk from it in the night and discovered that one of the barrels had a slightly loose fitting lid and the spring had rubbed against the lid and forced it off. I tried to put the lid back on without splitting the plates but it kept popping off so I had to strip the clock back down again, tighten the barrel lid and spend all afternoon reassembling and resetting what is a very complicated mechanism. Frustrating! I have now finished so will relax with what remains of the evening.
