Another day, another green oasis...
The Dramway, Willsbridge Mill Valley, South Gloucestershire
“The Dramway was a horse-drawn coal carriage route. The 9-mile nineteenth-century tramway carried coal from Coalpit down to the river Avon. Today the remains of the Avon & Gloucester railway, and the collieries it was built to serve, can still be seen along the route, most of which can still be walked despite the railway being closed for nearly 140 years.” Walking The Dramway by Peter Lawson
Plans have a habit of changing around here, and today was no exception. So I found myself out for lunch in the sun at the 18th century Willsbridge Mill cafe, followed by a stroll around the nature reserve managed by Avon Wildlife; just like Bath’s Linear Park, another urban green oasis, this time on the outskirts of Bristol.
A day of warm sunshine, 20 degrees. Tomorrow we return to cooler weather...
