Today we visited Methoni, and especially the Venetian castle dominating the town's waterfront. As an additional feature the castle has an additional castle (frotified islet of Bourzi, seen in the blip) protruding to the sea, which held gun batteries, a lighthouse, and a prison. The Bourzi castle has an octagonal shape, and has also Ottoman influences (see the gateway of the smaller castle).
