Curtain Fig

Much better day today, organised for Ryan Matthias and I to hire a car, good to take my mind away from other stresses here.

We planned a full day road about 300km, in a loop down south. We stopped at Babinda Boulders, Josephine Falls in Wooroonooran National Park. Innisfail for lunch then Millaa Millaa falls, Zillie Falls and Elinjaa Falls. We drove to Yungerburra to see the platypuses (they were hiding) and the curtain fig tree. Afterwards we ate at an Italian restaurant before diving home. All in all 12 hours in and out of the car.

The rain was hit and miss all day, you would get a torrential downpour but then 100m to your side the trees/fields would be in glorious sunshine. And 30s to 5minutes later so would you. Crazy weather.

We all went swimming in Josephine falls ok the natural rock slide and Millaa Millaa falls through the veil of water. Millaa Millaa is very famous and very pretty, but I was too busy enjoying it to take many photos. Plus this is a pretty cool fig.

The fig is a strangler fig, it normally grows high in a tree, spreading its branches until it has killed the host tree. In this case the host tree fell over partially before it rotted/died. Then the strangler fig branched down creating a curtain covering three trees, creating... The curtain fig.
