My topsy-turvy life

Back again

Little Dude's been starting to struggle with his slightly lumpier feeds and slow down a bit with his milk so we agreed with his surgeon to get him in for another routine look, dilatation #11.

That meant another very early start for us and no food for Owen after 2:30am...unfortunately -for us- he wasn't first on the list this time, even more unfortunately -for everyone- the very young baby before him's surgery turned out to be more complicated than expected. That all meant that Owen's surgery got pushed back to this afternoon instead, with Louisa taking him down at around 3 o'clock.
Just over an hour later we were off to recovery with a bottle of milk for him. We could hear him crying almost as soon as we walked through the door. It seems that was only hunger. The operation itself was as routine as it could be (though still nerve wracking as hell) and he was under the anaesthetic for less than 20 minutes. Oesophagus dilated, food taken, obs good, we were out and on our way home by 5.

At least he got to show off his new surgical gown from Pyjama Faries while we waited. They supply surgical gowns and pyjamas for children who have to go for regular hospital appointments to help them feel more at ease. Once he outgrows these we simply send them back and get the next size up with a new pattern. He seemed pretty pleased with them.
