Desert Squirrel

Rakaia salmon

We took my 92-year old mother down to Ashburton for a picnic lunch in the domain. Stopped on the way for coffee (thermos, as of course everywhere is closed) at Rakaia and snapped the fish. Surprisingly, I've never photographed this icon previously. Our decision to head south proved to be a good one, as the low cloud and drizzle in Christchurch had petered out by the time we reached Rakaia, and in Ashburton the sky was clear. We also dropped by Lake Hood, where many happy boatees and picnickers were enjoying the sunshine.
