Bus Challenge No 168!
The Linear Park, Bath
“This informal park was originally part of the Somerset and Dorset Railway Line which ran from Bath Green Park Station… to Bournemouth, which closed in 1966. After considerable construction work and the closure of the tunnel entrance, the area was laid out as a ribbon of countryside through the city and was planted with many indigenous plants. The Linear Park has now become a very popular area for residents, especially for walking and jogging…” www.bathnes.gov.uk
Into Bath on a beautiful Spring morning to meet my BC friend, who was my guide for a walk along The Linear Park, through a neighbourhood of Bath that was new to me. At Tuesday’s book talk, Hilary Bradt was extolling the virtues of “slow travel”, the joy of taking your time and enjoying small discoveries, exploring what’s on your doorstep. And that’s what I did today, rounded off with a slow café stop in the sunshine!
