Looks like we made it!
To the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain.
1,955ft ( 596 metres)
Stunning views stretching across to the Severn Estuary and the Brecon Beacons.
The southernmost peak of the Black Mountains in Wales.
Owned by the National Trust who manage its grazing by Welsh mountain sheep.
Perfect weather. Not too hot, ( 20C) hazy sun and a little cooling breeze.
What a fabulous walk, even if a little strenuous for us near the top.
Would you believe it there was even a vineyard at the bottom of the mountain where we stopped for lunch with a wine tasting for Kay and myself.
Sugar Loaf Vineyard has 5 acres of vines, and we had two white, a rose and a red. Excellent value at only £6.
The sharing platter for two of meats, cheeses, breads, chutneys, salad, and olives was delicious. A perfect late lunch after out climb. ( see extra)
Sat outside, in by now hot sunshine, with a wonderful view, good food and wine and lovely friends was heaven.
Loving our Staycation in Wales.
Wish we were here for longer, but back home tomorrow.
Will certainly be back.
Must say a special “Thank you” to all the Welsh people we have met for the extremely friendly welcome they have given us.
