Sneaked blip
Shhh, don't tell anyone, I don't think I should have taken this blip....big signs saying 'No Photography'. But the gallery security guys were obviously on their lunchbreak so I chanced it.....the things we do for art!
Now the history lesson....
Attributed to J Edgar Mitchell, 1904, this lovely Arts and Crafts stained glass window is on the rather grand main staircase at the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle (one of my regular lunchtime haunts) Many years ago, it was removed (no one knows exactly when or why), broken up and put into storage. Most of the pieces were rediscovered some years ago and the window was restored to it's former glory and position in 2000.
Class over, dismiss.....no running in the corridors!
