Silver Clothes Brush
Visited Knightshayes a National Trust property outside of Tiverton - former home of the Heathcoat Amory family.
A brief history - The estate has glorious gardens and park, surrounding a spectacular Gothic Revival house. Knightshayes is the complete gentleman's dream.
Started in 1869, the house is a rare example of the work of William Burges, whose lavish designs have always inspired extremes in opinion. Better known for this work on churches. Knightshayes is the only example of a Burges-designed house open to the public.
Home to three generations of the Heathcoat Armory family, prominent landowners who made their money in lace, the house tells the story of a family who struggled to make a home in Burges' extraordinary creation. They eventually gave up moving outside to create one of the finest gardens in the South West before handing the house, gardens and some of the wider estate to the National Trust in 1972.
All that said my blip - is part of a beautiful silver clothes brush part of a dressing table set in the house.
