Resting

There is nothing remarkable about a picture of two ducks having a rest. What was a bit odd is where they chose to do it, on the ledge of the building next to us, several floors off the ground. It didn't look too comfortable, as the wind whistled over their feathers. It's pretty exposed up there. Anyway, they didn't stay too long, but they did supply me with a blip on a day when I didn't actually leave the house, but still managed to walk 8000 steps.

The steps came from preparing book group dinner, all three courses of which were cooked from scratch (well, I guess the starter of smoked salmon just needed plating up). I cooked a fish curry (including making fish balls which was quite an experience), a squash, carrot and sugarsnap curry, rice and flatbreads (provided by Mr A, who also provided some helpful kitchen slaving services, e.g. when it came to the task of peeling the squash). For dessert, it was apple and cherry crumble. I used our new food processor for quite a few things, such as whizzing up the crumble mixture, and making the curry pastes. It seems pretty good at its job. It's not often that I do as much cooking as that. I was exhausted.

Book group itself was fun as ever, and we had a really interesting conversation about the current huge controversy over gender self ID. We touched briefly on the book, of course. The general view was positive.
