A Visit to the Moon

After a workout at the gym, we took Norma into Brighton for Sunday lunch at the Brighton Beach Club which was a little disappointing as the service was very slow, although the food was good when it finally arrived.  We then had a wander along the seafront, showed her the upside down house and went into the gift shop of the i360 and she got to see the pod as it came down.

We then drove to Queens Park as I was due there tonight with the Brighton Skies group to see 'The Museum of the Moon' an installation by UK artist Luke Jerram, and I wanted to check out the parking and also to see it in daylight.  It's definitely more impressive at night though when it's illuminated.  The moon measures 7 metres in diameter and features detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface.  At an approximate scale of 1:5000,000 each centimetre of the spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon's surface.  It's positioned over the duck pond in the park, which provided great reflections which you can see in my extras.

I picked Amanda and Marianna up near the pier and 7.30pm and drove to Queen's Park to meet Faye and others from our group.  I took my tripod, but it was there were so many people that it was difficult to find a spot to position it, and I eventually gave up, and took hand held shots.  It's a really amazing installation with surround sound, and is here just until tomorrow as part of the Brighton Festival.
