Plan B
With much of the night sporadic sleep from wind-battered doors, I was beginning to realise cycling wasn't going to be an option today.
Liz was having a lie in and a chill day but I was hoping to ride a climb to Lujar that we'd spotted from our Haza day earlier this week.
It's a great reason to come back and instead, we thoroughly enjoyed mooching the town, walking up to the castle and drinking coffee in the fierce gusts that drove one way up the street and then the other. We did see cyclists but it wasn't for me. We finished on a real high yesterday and today wouldn't have been one.
We also managed to find the gardens open (which don't seem to have opening times) after spotting a huge crowd of tourists heading towards the gates we'd found shut. They were first recorded in 1573 and designed to be peaceful, and certainly were for us as we met the great party leaving as we approached. We found sheltering insects, unexpected caves full of stalactites and stalagmites and even a snake. This mill was sheltering from the wind behind the garden wall.
We've finished the evening at our first restaurant but are still looking forward to heading home for some healthier cooking. On the way back from the gardens, we did buy a couple of ripened on the tree avocado to snack on - they were divine!
That aside, we've had an extraordinarily good week from start to finish and you can't ask for much more.
