Beautiful Madeira in May

The Flower Festival finished a couple of weeks ago. The flowers, in particular the wild flowers, are at their most beautiful.

BA prices can get silly in the Summer so I’ve come out a day early and I’m staying in the simpler and more traditional Quinta da Penha de Franca. I love it here too, and I had the little pool to myself.

A Monarch butterfly fluttered past but didn’t stay.
