Love birds

With rain threatened for this afternoon we went out this morning for a potter around Oxborough Hall (National Trust). There is a selection of garden-related merchandise for sale outside the shop in the courtyard, and this pair of love birds caught my eye (actually I think they are meant to be pheasants, but I'm allowed a bit of artistic licence!). I thought they looked rather good against the pretty bench, flanked by posh pots. There were all manner of metal plate birds available, as well as the pheasants, including ducks and herons.

The pair of swans who live in the moat have one cygnet this year - hope it survives, they didn't manage any young last year. No pics as we didn't want to disturb them by getting too close, the cob is HUGE and you wouldn't want to annoy him!

The promised heavy rain has duly arrived...
