Elmina Castle

This is inside one of the slaving castles along the coast of Ghana.

They are defensive, this one was originally Portuguese but captured by the Dutch, but also designed to 'break' and dehumanise the slaves as they waited for the ships to arrive for the long voyage across the Atlantic. Quite an experience to see the care and effort put into cruelty.
