Dwight D Eisenhower Presidential Library

Today we visit the Eisenhower Presidential Library, the 3rd I have been to. It was very different from the other 2 in Texas.
It Library was set up like a campus.... peaceful, cool, shaded and grassed with 4 distinct areas. The Visitors Center was part 1. We saw a fabulous documentary on the life and times of the president. It was fascinating to see his childhood, times at West Point, his development as a leader and as a general, the agony of war, then taped again to be president. Interesting to note that both political parties wanted him as their candidate.

Part 2 was his boyhood home where he learned his values as duty, honor, country and service.

Part 3 was theVeterans Memorial, dedicated to all the men who died serving and defending our freedom.
Near the memorial was the actual library that contained all of his Presidential papers.

At the other end of the campus was chapel of Meditation. The president and his wife Mime are buried inside a beautiful, peaceful, and serene spot before the altar. It was very moving to be inside there.

As was true of the other 2 presidential libraries I have visited, I learned a great deal about the man, his life, what he stood for and how he lived.
I learned Eisenhower was a painter, a sketcher, a reader, a devoted father and husband, loved his country, and always answered the call of a country in need.

If you ever are near one of these Presidential Library ‘s be sure to visit.... They are amazing!
