Broad-bordered bee hawk

My visit to Oaken wood yesterday wasn't to see the Wood whites (although that was a bonus) it was actually to see this beauty the Broad-bordered bee hawk moth Hemaris fuciformis, a bee mimic day-flying moth that is locally distributed across southern England. It flies in open woodland in May and June and seems to like Bugle.
I was VERY pleased to see it when I returned today as it is a moth I have not seen before...I feel more visits coming very soon!
