Imminent Eruption

It looked to my uninformed eye as though this fungi was about to emerge into full blossom. On a sunny evening, they were on the shady side at the base of an old ash tree, which is mostly dead.

I like the pattern created by their repeated shapes that flow across the image, although I would have liked a contrasting element to create some visual interest. I had to make do with the bit of stump and its attached fungi of a different kind, and the remains of a nut in the lower left.
