Destroyed by fire

We went into Victoria to do a few things. We wanted to see the site where the old Plaza Hotel and Monty's Pub had been destroyed by a suspicious fire a few days earlier. In 1994 when the Commonwealth Games were in Victoria, my Uncle Bill was visiting us. I was working and G was taking a break, so he and my uncle took in a few events and musical acts with the Wee Man, as my uncle called our friend who lives in Victoria. They also took in a few acts in Monty's Pub, although Uncle Bill said he just liked going there for the beer.  Ha!
It was awful to see the destruction. The hotel had been vacant for years but there was a caretaker who lived there. He hasn't been seen and it's speculated that he may have died in the fire.
G found a jacket and trousers to wear to the Big Wedding this summer. He's going to be one sharp dressed man, looks great! I haven't started to look for whatever I'm going to wear yet.
Extras: construction at the site of the old Custom's House. The heritage facade is being partially saved. I'd loved to have taken more photos of the workers in the hole, but there weren't any gaps in the safety fence. I got a couple through the fence of the concrete pour and the workers spreading the concrete.
