Past Times

Trip to Reguengos this morning on the other side of the Lake, to get plasterboard for the bathroom, and buy an air conditioner (!). Got Mike to drive back to the bridge where you get this view of the disused railway.

A bit of history. On the 27th December 1905, they started building a railway that would link Lisbon to Seville; it eventually got as far as Reguengos in 1927, and that was as far as it got. Never crossed the Guadiana River (now the Lake) to Mourão, and then railways started their decline; the line from Évora to Reguengos closed definitively in 1990. Thankfully, the Évora station is still open, and you can easily - and cheaply (cheapest is 7 euros) - go from there to Lisbon, the Algarve, or the North.

OK, now my Gratefuls:
- buying an air conditioner, should be installed within a week. It's felt so hot these last days, and only 35°C; was worried about when it gets up near 50° like it did last summer...
- booking our tickets to England for big family reunion next month, will be meeting wife and children of nephew for first time, coming from the States
- C and E coming here to bring some spray for my foot, so hope it helps! They both used to love going on the train to Évora and Lisbon, said the part to Évora was a beautiful ride.
