Urban Family Christmas

Audrey slept through again last night. She's been spoiling us with a few nights of sleeping through lately. Daren't say it's permanent as whenever I mention it to anyone, she busts out a few spectacular nights of waking every hour. But I love her for trying!

We woke to her talking to herself at 7.20am this morning. Dressing gowns on, we both got up and padded downstairs with her and watched last night's Jonathan Ross Show while we fed her (porridge) and ourselves (almond croissants and coffee).

It was a gorgeous day compared to the downpours of late so we headed to Chorlton Ees for a long walk. Parts of the path are literally underwater so wellies were a must!

I was really excited about our Christmas lunch at The Parlour with our urban family (Laura, Nathan and their little boy Sam -pictured - and Kate, Luke and Max). It was lovely but Audrey was not happy. Not sure what was wrong (she'd been so cute all morning). As soon as we sat down she started crying and it went on for a whole hour practically! I do blame myself a little. I don't take her out into social situations enough so I think it might of all been too much for her. Doesn't bode well for Christmas family meals!

We went home and the boys stayed out for a few Christmas pints. The look on Audrey's face when I wheeled her into the house said it all, "Ah that's better Mum...I'm glad we're home". Had a lovely few hours of mother-daughter time, playing rolling on the bed and watching Muppets. Maybe I needed it more than she did truth be told....
